you know who would make great friends?

...a photojournalist and a storyteller from the radio. radio tells stories that create pictures in our minds. vivid language and descriptive characters guide us through stories that are compelling and engage listeners. stories constantly raise questions and we can answer those questions with actions or events or moments of reflection.

i spent the last 20 minutes or so watching clips on you tube of ira glass talking about storytelling. just search his name and the clips pop up, in several parts. as i was listening, i tried replacing words like radio or listener with words like pictures and viewers. the storytelling rules applied just the same.

i've been couped up in the house all day listening to old This American Life broadcasts and looking at pictures online and in books, getting inspired on this really crappy overcast day.

currently inspired by:

america 24/7
mercurynewsphoto.com
the polaroid book
banksy

does no one else envision this awesome photog/NPR reporter/multimedia-producing lovechild that i'm imagining? i think it'd be a beautiful thing.
